Thriving During the Economic Challenges of 2010
(and Beyond)
As we enter 2010, is clear that we will be facing some of the most economically challenging years the world has ever seen. The financial crisis in the U. S. has caused us to be painfully aware of the negative implications of living in a global economy.
For years we have enjoyed on the benefits of a “flat” world with almost reckless abandon. As technology and information became more ubiquitously available and affordable, we all profited. Small businesses and solo-preneurs were, for the first time ever, able to successfully compete against corporate giants. International operations became the norm and the world’s economies and financial systems became intertwined.
In 2008 we saw the downside of this situation. When stocks drop and credit dries up in one country, it necessarily leads to economic turmoil in other parts of the world.
Over the past two years, we not only received an education about the risks of doing business and working in a global economy, but we have also gained a visceral understanding of the interconnectedness of our entire lives to our personal financial situation.
There is not a single area of our lives – personal development, health, relationships, spirituality, education, recreation, volunteerism, etc. – that is not profoundly impacted by a sudden and severe reduction of personal finances. For those who did not experience a personal financial crisis in 2008, the possibility still exists as corporations are still resolving to cut jobs, customers are paying slower than ever, and banks are continuing to be slow to lend.
- What will you do if your company decides to eliminate your job?
- How will you handle the cash crunch caused by your customers not paying for work performed or products received?
- How will you manage if your bank cuts or eliminates your lines of credit?
Creating your own economic stimulus plan is the only answer to reducing the risk of you and your family plummeting into total financial ruin while our economic system tries to work itself out.
Going It Alone Causes Unnecessary Risk
Being a business owner, solo-preneur or launching a new business is tough during good economic times. Given the high stakes, now is certainly not the time to go it alone. The fact is, our world has changed and the old way of doing things will not be sufficient to lead to success in the future.
To address the challenges we now face will require new thinking in order to make the right choices and take the right actions to get the desired results. It will be extremely difficult, and for some impossible, to achieve success alone.
| Key Success Factors for 2010 | Disadvantages of going it alone |
|---|---|
| Intense focus and commitment | Distracted by need to address greater number of more complicated issues |
| High levels of innovation and creative thinking | Limited by the finite breadth of your own thoughts and your own experiences |
| Efficient use of time | Spend too much time reinventing the wheel to solve problems already addressed by others |
A Power Circle Is the Answer
A group of up to 10 people come together for 12 months via teleconference, email and the Internet to form a Power Circle that is committed to the success, financial and otherwise, of each of the Circle’s members.
A Power Circle is part mastermind group, part accountability partnering, and part group and individual coaching. The combination of masterminding, accountability, and coaching gives you access to three separate success techniques that, when combined, provide a sure fire plan for the support you need to accomplish your goals.
When there is a mastermind session, the goal is to have the entire group share ideas on how to address a specific issue. Napoleon Hill introduced the concept of the mastermind in his classic work, “Think and Grow Rich.” In it he says:
“No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind].”
The accountability portion of the program comes from not only group accountability through both the calls but through accountability partnering between group participants. There will be opportunities for to pair up and provide additional accountability and support to each other between meetings.
InPower™ coaching is one of the most powerful coaching experiences you will ever have. It is based upon the belief that individuals already possess all of the authority they need to control their destinies. Our primary need is not to be given more power, but to more effectively use what we have. We need access to a system that allows us to be in power.
These combined processes work to provide holistic support for both your long-term goals and meeting the demands of daily life and the periodic crisis that arise.
