About Cecilia Edwards
Cecilia Edwards has lived her life InPower for many years. Growing up with her four older brothers in Washington D.C., she was exposed to people of power and influence at a very early age. This created in her a seminal belief that individuals have the ability to change the course of things in the world.
During her high school years in the Northern Chicago suburbs, she had an opportunity to experience choice in a real way. Her school’s course catalog looked more like that of a college than that of a high school and there were many electives to choose. She learned how to set goals and develop action plans that move towards results. She was able to finish her junior year with enough credits to graduate from high school a year early, leaving her senior year available to further explore several academic fields and to pursue additional music, art, and extra curricular activities.
Having developed a taste for choice, she selected Smith College for her undergraduate education. Because of the structure at Smith, she was able to complete her mathematics degree while taking courses in ten other academic departments. She believed that a true liberal arts background combined with strong analytic skills would establish a foundation for a life of broad options from which she could choose.
She received an Air Force ROTC scholarship to fund her college education and subsequently spent four and a half years as an officer in the United State Air Force in the Titan Satellite Space Launch Program. With the enormity of the responsibility in launching rockets, her decision making and action planning skills were developed and her results-orientation was established. It was here that she learned that problems are only opportunities to excel and that failure is not an option.
After completing her MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, she joined the Boston Consulting Group where she spent six and a half years as a strategy consultant to Fortune 500 companies. After completing her goal of mastering consulting at a world-class level, she left to pursue her dream of equipping as broad a group of people as possible with the tools necessary to change the world.
Since she began this journey, she has consulted with nonprofit organizations and churches. She headed a local foundation where she had the opportunity to develop capacity building programs for 125 organizations, establish a research institute, and lead teams in major civic projects to change the affordable housing, early childhood education, healthcare, and public education systems in Dallas.
She currently is the President and CEO of The RobinsonEdwards Group, her own strategic advisory and consulting firm that works with private equity firms and middle market companies to create value in their businesses and maximize their investment opportunities.
After documenting the common themes that have produced results for more than 20 years for her and those with whom she has worked in the varied sectors of our society, Cecilia developed InPowerTM to equip people to consistently exercise choices, be action oriented, and get the results they desire in their business and personal endeavors. She and her husband have been married for 19 years and have two very active children.
